Biography
After an initial training with Martha Rumpf, Veronika left the small town nestling between the woods and the vineyards of her native Germany for the diversities of the cities, continuing her studies in Frankfurt, Brussels, Bonn, Paris and London.
Design, painting on silk, printing, enameling, pottery and sculpture were pursued with equal enthusiasm. But aquarelle painting with its fluidity, the often unpredictable and coincidental play of colours, shades and forms soon became a favourite.
Her probing imagination, the desire to be free from the constraints of the real and to capture the essence of an object, a situation, a feeling in its purest form lifted her work into the abstract.
The search for the underlining meaning and the capture of the whole spectrum of emotions on canvas is reflected in the complexity and filigree details which characterize her paintings.
The expressive quality and depth of her pallet of colours is the core force resonating with the viewer, offering refuge.
An early productive phase was followed by a prolonged break from painting and a foray into writing.
After moving to London in 1991 she started to paint and to exhibit again.
